For the website publisher, getting your articles and other content into the search engines (so you can start making money fast) is often a challenge.

Although there are a number of solutions, most of them require some kind of work. And when you have a number of websites, this takes valuable hours of your day you could be spending on more profitable tasks.

One of the most popular shortcuts is the “Blog and ping” technique. This process works in 4 steps:

1. Build a search engine “spider trap” by creating a free blog on Blogger.com (they can’t resist freshly updated content).

2. Grab a free account at MyYahoo.com.

3. Post links to the web pages you want spidered inside your blog.

4. Then, just call the search engine spiders to dinner by sending (or “pinging”), with the click of a button, the blog to your MyYahoo account.

All of this takes around 15 minutes or less to get any page you want into the search engines. Best of all, you didn’t have to spend hours writing anything.

But, even doing it manually, takes too much time when you have a lot pages.

Blogging Equalizer is a tool that automates this process. So, it allows you to potentially get thousands of pages into the search engines without any time-consuming or tedious work.

However, if you only have a single small website (and don’t intend to build anymore), then this tool may not be worth your time. You’re better off doing the technique manually.

On the other hand, if you are constantly creating new websites, getting this new tool is a no-brainer. Because it gets your websites off to the right start so they start making money a lot faster than they otherwise would.

This means you can quickly move onto the next site, instead of spending more time than you have to on the old ones.

For usability, Blogging Equalizer is a breeze to put into action. You just fill in your information and the software scours your website to uncover all of its pages. Then, you just click the “Blog Now” button.

There were no noticeable flaws and since it has been first put out, there’s already been a free upgrade.

A key advantage Blogging Equalizer has over other tools is that it has many features to make the software work as though a person is pushing the buttons.

This is important because it means the search engines and free blog host won’t think you’re a piece of software.

Simply put, Blogging Equalizer is a complete solution and a powerful tool to every website owner who’s always creating new sites.

With its power in your hands, you’ll increase your AdSense income and get traffic faster to boost your sales.

We’re back again to talk to you about more ways to get traffic to your blog, which will in turn send more traffic to your list building or squeeze page. Last time, we talked about setting up and adding content to your blog. This time, let’s discuss other ways of getting traffic.

Natural search or what they term “organic” search traffic is great, but it takes a while to build up. But there are other search engines you may not be aware of. They’re specifically geared toward searching for blogs. One of the oldest is Technorati at http://technorati.com. If you have a blog and haven’t “claimed” it at Technorati, it’s probably a good thing to do. Your site will be indexed and ranked, and you could pick up an audience, too. The more people who like your blog the higher it will rise in the rankings.

There are other less “interactive” blog searches, too, like Blogsearch.Google.com or IceRocket, but there are many more. List your blog with as many as possible.

But the interactive sites are very popular right now. I’m sure you’ve heard of MySpace and YouTube, or you’ve been hiding in a closet somewhere. These sites bring traffic, but there are hundreds of sites that will have the same effect, if you get involved in what’s called “Web 2.0.”

StumbleUpon: When you write a post, you can “StumbleUpon” it. Give each of your pages a StumbleUpon vote and watch your traffic soar. To get to that page, rather than just the first page of your blog, you’ll need to click on the post’s title (if you’re using WordPress) or click on a link that says “permalink.” That will take you to a page with the precise post number included. StumbleUpon those each time you post.

SpicyPage: This is somewhat like MySpace in that you’ll have people asking to be your “friend,” or you can find friends of your own. SpicyPage is different than Digg or StumbleUpon in that you can include not just your blog postings in your profile, but your web sites as well. Make a lot of friends, get lots of votes for your site, and your traffic will climb.

Digg: Digg was created mainly to mark news stories for its members–news stories of interest. Well, when you post to your blog, that’s news right? Unless you’ve posted nothing but a picture or silly nonsense or random musings, Digg will accept your vote for other people to see what you’ve voted on. Be sure that your post is an article, though, or your page might be “buried.” You don’t want that.

Most of these sites work the same way or similarly to the sites above. Others include Furl, Reddit, and RawSugar, but there are hundreds. Sign up for as many as you can, and each day enter your posts into as many sites as you can. The more you enter, the more your traffic you’ll get to your blog.

One more way to get traffic to your blog would be:

Wikipedia: This online, user-generated encyclopedia is an incredible source of incoming traffic, if you can meet the editors’ requirements. At the bottom of every post is a section called “Other sources,” and this is where you’d enter the link to your blog. Just be sure that you’re providing quality information in that category and that your site isn’t commercial.

If you have a non-commercial blog, as with my own at ADHDWebsites.com, where I do nothing but talk about ways to control ADD and ADHD, then you might consider adding your link to Wikipedia. Just be sure to follow the guidelines or your link will be edited out, almost before it takes hold.

All of these sources will bring tons of traffic to your site. They take some time to set up, but many of them have toolbars or buttons you can put right on your browser to make submitting easy for you. The whole thing is to be consistent. Add good information to your blog, and then be sure to favor your posts every time you make them in as many places as you can, and you’ll be amazed at the traffic you get. For even more places to submit, go to http://www.go2web20.net/ .

Next time, let’s discuss another way to get traffic to your list building pages… writing articles.

I admit it, I search for my name a lot. Firstname Lastname, click, send, wait, smile! It’s exciting to see what the search engines find most relevant about me. If you haven’t tried it yet, you should. Everybody likes to feel important or at the very least less obscure and more accessible online to friends, loved ones, fans, viewers, colleagues you name it.

What’s interesting is the distinctly different types of websites and information that the top 3 (Google, MSN, and Yahoo) return in response to a firstname lastname search. Now a lot of these differences are not specific to a name search and would fit in the categories of convtionial SEO, but the reasons why I think it’s important to talk about this specific search separately from regular SEO are:

1. This search is one of the most important to an individual emotionally. Your first and last name appears on everything you create. It can represent your reputation, your family heritage, your professional image, your expertise, and your experience, all at the same time. Give me another two search words that cover all of that.

2. People use their first and last name in documents and websites in similar ways that differ extensively from other words Most of us, for example, don’t have social networking accounts, blogs, press releases, work history, personal comments and video files all attached to a string of keywords like “buy movies now”.

Recently, do to the pending release of the free movie Boy Who Never Slept and an aggressive marketing campaign, references to ‘solomon rothman’ have increased dramatically and span many different sources. Considering this, I thought it would be a perfect time to do a search comparison on the different types of results to gain a fresh perspective on name searches and what each of the search engines prefer.

Initial things to note:

1. My myspace account is very new with almost to no outside links pointing at it.

2. I use my real name solomonrothman in my usernames for website profile pages. Examples of this are below.
www.myspace.com/solomonrothman
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Solomonrothman
Search results by each engine for solomon rothman

On MSN (results summarized in bullets)

    * My website
* My profile page on associated content
* My profile page on Design Firms
* My profile page on Blog Flux
* My user page on Wikipedia
* Google Video listing
* Contact page on top design firms

On Yahoo (results summarized in bullets)

    * The other solomon rothman’s website (not me)
* My website
* Specific associated content articles
* Deep pages within my website
* Archive.org
* Press releases
* Creative commons blog
* Directories
* Comments I made on some substantial blogs
* Dig article
* Google video

On Google (results summarized in bullets )

    * My website
* My user profile at Associated Content
* Profile at blog Flux
* WikiNews Article
* Design Firms Profile
* Internet Archive
* Feedburner URL
* LOTS OF PRESS RELEASES
* Google Video listing
* Wikipedia User Page
* Myspace Profile

This is my no means scientific, but by comparing all three there are some interesting conclusions that could be drawn or at least hypothesized about. You would of course need a lot more test data, to make any concrete, but here are some interesting comparisons.
Analysis on searching for a persons name or first name, last name searches

Commonalities among all 3:

    * my personal website to be the most important / relevant (yahoo liked the personal website of the other solomon rothman more)
* individual Google Video Listings were included in the top results

Individual Relevancy Preferences
MSN

    * Values both topic related and general Profile and user pages on large established websites and social networks over other results.
* Wikipedia pages including user pages
* Link Directories

It’s interesting that it brings up my wikiusername page on the first page results, this is just a free userpage used to let editors I may be working with know more about me.

Yahoo

    * Specific Articles (as opposed to the profile pages at article submission or promotion sites)
* Deep pages within personal website
* Internet Archive Listings (put them above Google Video)
* Listings and tag entires on technorati.com (blog search engine with listings and tags)

Google

    * Highly values profile pages on topical sites like (designfirms.org)
* Myspace
* Wikinews items rank very high
* Internet Archive Video Listings appear EXTRMELEY high
* Individual Video Listing from other video distrubition websites like bolt, and vivemo.
* feedburner urls
* press releases

Individual Dislikes or things that seen to rank substantially lower specifically on these engines
MSN

    * Doesn’t rank press releases very high in results for a person’s name, puts them after profile pages, and directories.
* Listings and tag entires on technorati.com (blog search engine with listings and tags) none show up in the top 100.

Yahoo

    * Wikipedia Items (not one listing in the top 100, as opposed to msn, (in top 10) and Google in top 30

Google
# listings and tag entries on technorati.com

Remember that I use my real name as my username and repeat it specifically on the about me pages etc of each of these websites, that I’m sure obviously if you don’t use your first name or last name on these sites, they won’t come up.

Interesting things to note:

In the top 50 resutls of MSN was included my user page on the social bookmarking system del.icio.us/solomonrothman . That’s EXTREMELY intesting because in the meta tags on that page say no index, no follow and no archive:

It appears msn is not only indexing this page, but ranking it above other information rich sites for certain keywords. YET ANOTHER REASON TO start SOCIAL BOOKMARKING.

Interesting trends applicable to all searches
Video in regular search results

Video listings, especially on Google Video and the Internet Archive are showing up for regular keyword searches that don’t use the word video, movie, etc. It appears all the search engines consider topic specific videos (at least the video listing pages) to be as relevant as regular information / text rich websites. A great example is search google for Helicopter fire California. Thinking the “old way” I would guess this search to bring up news articles using those keywords, and it does for some of the results.

In the first 15 entires there are 3 separate references to a video file I uploaded showing a helicopter drop over a fire in California. 2 separate entries for various listing on archive.org and another listing for the google video listing.

This is very powerful and although it may have been prominent in the past, I don’t remember bringing up very many video listings on my normal searches, but things are changing, video is becoming the new sought-after relevant content in the online arena.

My space is a very powerfully free resource(other social networks are too) Even without any additional promotion (outside links for example) my myspace account ranked among the top sites in for my name in both MSN and Google. That’s huge. If you want to put some information on the top spots for a name search and don’t have a lot of time/budget/knowledge to undergo an SEO campaign, consider joining myspace and using your real first and last name.

You could have your personal page among the top spots in a matter of weeks. Of course if your name is extremely common, this tactic probably won’t work.
No luck for John Smith.

Wikipedia is a great place to contribute information
As an extra bonus you may receive some Search Engine Recognition for it

Articles are still a great way to promote yourself and there are some great places that will even pay you for your published articles and still link to your site.

Optimizing your blog for fun and profit can be a daunting task. There are secret tricks of the trade that separate newbies from techies but that does not mean you cannot do some of it yourself. This article is one of a series that lifts the curtain on this shadowland of optimization.

If you read my article – “What Should You Blog About?”, and I surely hope you did, you should have a blog filled with content you have passionately written. It should be a very interesting grapevine for the community of your chosen niche, as opposed to a lifeless factsheet. So, how do you get your words where others can read them?

No matter how delicious your content is, if nobody knows it exists you can’t generate profit from it. Traffic is the lifeblood of your blog. In order to attract readers, you must offer exciting and unique information. Simple enough, right? Common sense? Not exactly.

You see, to get traffic onto your site, you have to think backwards. Where do people look when they need information? Yes, they search using search engines like Google, Yahoo, and MSN, to name the more popular ones.

So, to get these people to visit your blog, your blog needs to rank high on results pages of these search engines. When people search for information through the search engines and see your site among the top results, they will naturally click through to your blog!

The art of getting your blog or website high rankings on search results pages is called Search Engine Optimization or SEO. It is a complex and technical subject to master, but that will not stop you from learning some simple, yet effective techniques, to conquer the search engines for certain keywords. The more complex techniques are usually needed to fight for very competitive and general keywords such as “fat loss”. I’ll teach you how to overcome that later.

For now, let’s determine the best keywords to optimize your site for.

For example, your blog talks about tech gadgets. Now, you’d want to check in Google whether it is a very competetive keyword. At this time of writing, there are 29, 000 ,000 (twenty-nine-million!) search results. Think you can beat 29,000,000 sites at your first attempt? I don’t think so. In fact, I know absolutely that you cannot.

Let’s try to narrow our scope to keywords you can successfully optimize for. Let’s look for the keywords – “technological gadgets”. At this time of writing, Google lists 792,000 results. That’s more manageable but still not narrow enough. You would still need to search for more focused keywords. An example is – “technological lap top gadgets”, however, let’s optimize your blog for “technological gadgets” just for the sake of learning.

First, you have to pay attention to the title of your blog. Since you’re optimizing for technological gadgets, you need to have that exact phrase in your blog title.

For example, a line like “Your Best Technological Gadget Blog!” would work great.

You can change the title of your blog in the Blogger control panel or the Wordpress blog when you’re creating it. If you’re proficient with HTML, you can even do that on other blog engines like Moveable Type. Bottom line? Learn a little HTML! Note: You will find some resources in the sidebar of this site for optimizing your blog.

Other than that, your page heading should also contain the term you’re optimizing for. The page heading is the bit of text in your template code that is enclosed within the tags. This is important as it tells the search engines what your page is about (in this case, “technological gadgets”). Since we’re posting a blog, the tags are usually the post titles, so remember to include the term there whenever relevant. For example, write an article/post titled – “Cheap Technological Gadgets for Everyone!”. It has your keywords in the headline.

You should also sprinkle the words “technological gadgets” in your posts whenever possible. The frequent occurrence of that phrase in your blog will hint to the search engines that your blog is really relevant to that topic. But, don’t overdo it. Use of the term “technological gadgets” just a couple of times in your posts is quite enough. More than that and it may appear as spam to the search engines and, more important, your readers will feel the same way. The real downside to over use of the same keywords in a single article is that the search engines may de-list your blog and you will be cast out into the internet darkness.

So, keep this in mind: Write for humans, not for search engines, using your targeted keywords!

Yours for success in life.

What is Affiliate Marketing and how do I get people to my Website

The success of affiliate marketing depends on the number of visitors that you can attract to your site and the ability of the visitors to click on the ads that are displayed on your site and possibly buy the products advertised on your site. Thus, the first requirement is that you have a good website with content and you must place targeted ads on the sites that are revelant. Google adsense is a great program. Sign up with them for free and they will place ads on your site. If you do not have a web site yet, get one. I recommend going with an established website domain and hosting company like GDI. They have been around for several years and they also have a business aspect where you can earn a very nice income. They even have a free 7 day trial offer. Go to http://website.ws/toddschuyler and check it out.visit to http://affiliatenetworkssites.blogspot.com

You should build your website in such a way that potential visitors are not put off by the site design and the look and feel of the website. Don’t clutter your site with all kinds of ads, visuals, and popups. It will just drive your customers away. Your goal is to make sure your website visitors buy the products or services you offer. The rate at which the visitors click on the buy button compared to the ones that just simply view the ads is called the conversion rate. The higher this rate is, the better it is for your site and yourself. Monitor the conversion rates and stay with the affiliates that are giving you good rates. Thers no point in having an affiliate that gets 1000 hits but no clicks or sales.

You should choose a affiliate merchant program that that pays you well. Don’t underestimate the pay plans. Many affiliates offer great pay plans. Thus, it is up to you to choose which program you are going to join. There would be lots of competition among the affiliates and you need to be focused and stay on track.http://affiliatenetworkssites.blogspot.com

Finally, give yourself a chance. Don’t give up yet! You can try affiliate marketing for a few months. If it works, then you can go full time with it. Otherwise, you can always pursue this as an side job or to earn extra income for vacations, college, bills, etc. Here is a program I recommend. Finally what is the answer to What is Affiliate Marketing http://affiliatenetworkssites.blogspot.com
