Creating Space to Score!! Chase’s Blog — How to Shoot a Basketball –

January 19th, 2010

Have you ever wondered how to create space so that you can shoot over or slip past the defense?

http://www.shotscience.com

This week Chase discusses how you can create space, which will allow you to get your shot off or, to drive to the hoop. It may seem counterintuitive, but you can do this by closing the space between you and the defender. This sets off a chain-reaction that develops into a “mini close-out” situation; deadly to the unsuspecting defender!!

We look forward to all of your comments! Thanks so much for all the support! We’d love to get a video response from one of you!

See you next week!!

    chris: The problem …
chris: The problem your are experiencing is from a lack confidence. It’s really tough when we wander if the shot will be blocked, miss the target or we loose it. If we worry about all the negative things we allow the negatives to rule! Be very positive when you shoot the ball. It’s in and good when we shoot and not a sure miss. If you have watched my son Chase in his highlights you need to know that he never considered that he might miss the shot! Be positive!!

    MrDr: Basketball …
MrDr: Basketball is a great game because you don’t have to big, even though that helps. There are great players who are not big and they are sensational. Allen Iverson is not a big guy. Our suggestion to you is to work on your BB skills and become very proficient in ball handling, shooting and defense and coaches will consider themselves lucky to have you on their teams. At 12 you have at least 4-5 years of growth and you may pass up your friends. Lets practice!!!

We’re actually going to have a video on this down the road. Our advice for now is to fake to the man with the ball and make him make a decision. Keep an eye out for the video.
